Why pay to volunteer?

This is a very common question and asked by most volunteers joining our wildlife conservation internships and volunteer programmes.

This video explains some of the reasons why volunteers are required to pay to be hosted at a volunteer project. Volunteers, students and interns joining wildlife conservation projects offer their time, effort and skills on an unpaid basis.

This video provides the reasoning why volunteering at a wildlife conservation project is still a paid experience.

The Director of WEI, a conservation research organisation in South Africa, shares his thoughts on this important topic.

A brief explanation is given on not only the more obvious subsistence costs related to hosting volunteers, but also the background costs that are less evident in hosting volunteers and internship students at a wildlife reserve.
